Air Liquide — a leading entity in today’s industrial and medical gas industry, was established in 1902 in France. Recognising the need for a reliable gas producer to support the burgeoning Far East economy in the early 20th century, Air Liquide established Far East Oxygen in Singapore in 1911 to meet this rising need for industrial gases.

As Singapore grew, so did the demand for gases. The upward industry augmented the need to develop a wider supply chain, giving rise to the formation of SOXAL in 1975 as a joint venture between Far East Oxygen and Singapore Oxygen.

From a modest gas production capacity of 50 cubic meters per hour in the 1920s, SOXAL today operates in 21 locations around Singapore, consisting of 4 subsidiaries and joint venture companies, making it the largest gas provider in the region.

SOXAL’s gases are supplied to an assortment of industries, including electronics, petrochemicals, chemicals, aviation, marine, biomedical, pharmaceutical, environmental and healthcare.

Going to where our customers are, our plants are strategically located near industrial sectors to ensure proximity and relevance. For the larger users, SOXAL has specifically designed onsite plants installed at the customer’s premises. With the largest liquid storage in Singapore, our backup storage facilities also ensure a constant supply to prevent business downtime.

SOXAL has come a long way since, partnering with diverse industry players to support the Singapore economy through a unique blend of advanced equipment, processes & systems supported by a highly engaged and competent workforce.

Today, SOXAL is Truly Air Liquide anew, celebrating a return to the Air Liquide family as a wholly owned subsidiary. With this, SOXAL is geared to stay ahead, leveraging on Air Liquide’s expertise and experience as one of the earliest pioneers of the gas industry to deliver even greater value, leading-edge technology and revolutionary innovations to our customers.
