Air Liquide Contributions to Relief Efforts to Earthquake in Haiti  [ Return towards  SOXAL News  ]

On 12th January 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 7.0, struck Haiti, Caribbean, burying hundreds and possibly thousands of people beneath the rubble of buildings.

Air Liquide teams in the Caribbean and US were immediately mobilized to bring practical and material relief to rescue teams working in the disaster zone. Air Liquide Dominican Republic supplied the medical oxygen and related equipment to the United Nations, who coordinated the rescue efforts in Haiti. Besides neighbouring Dominican Republic, medical gases and other related-equipment were also shipped from various subsidiaries located in the US and Trinidad & Tobago to meet the huge supply of medical supplies needed. Personnel from these subsidiaries were also sent to Haiti to ensure that the supply of these medical supplies reach the hospitals.

Such efforts will continue in the weeks ahead, to effectively support the international disaster rescue efforts. In addition to the medical support, the Air Liquide Group has also made a substantial donation to the Red Cross, as an act of solidarity to the people of Haiti.
